Qualcomm has introduced the its sixth-generation discrete LTE multimode chipset that can support download speeds of up to 1 Gbps - the Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 LTE modem. The Snapdragon X16 LTE modem is paired with the new Qualcomm WTR5975 RF Transceiver, and was built using a 14nm FinFET process. The new Snapdragon LTE modem also supports Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) making it the first commercially announced LTE Advanced Pro modem, Snapdragon All Mode, LTE dual SIM, LTE Broadcast, HD and Ultra HD Voice over LTE (VoLTE) with single radio voice call continuity to 3G and 2G. The first commercial products to carry the new Snapdragon X16 LTE modem are expected to arrive in the second half of 2016. Qualcomm has already increased the cost of some premium Snapdragon processors in recent years. Qualcomm has not announced which Snapdragon models will receive the largest increases. Qualcomm has announced that its annual Snapdragon Summit will take place from September 22 to 24, 2026, in Hawaii, where the company is expected to introduce its next-generation Snapdragon processors. While Qualcomm has not officially confirmed the products that will be unveiled during the summit, the Snapdragon Summit has traditionally served as the company's stage for introducing its flagship mobile platforms.
