Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center has issued a one-month ultimatum to Roblox, warning of a possible nationwide ban if concerns over child safety and illegal activity are not addressed. The agency said the platform, widely used by children in the Philippines, is being monitored due to reports that it is being exploited by bad actors, including individuals targeting minors and engaging in illicit activities. CICC Undersecretary Renato Paraiso said Roblox has 30 days to coordinate with authorities. Authorities are considering coordination with telecom providers to restrict access to Roblox servers, as well as working with Google and Apple to remove or limit the app through geo-fencing measures on the Play Store and App Store. The agency said it will decide on further action after the 30-day period, depending on Roblox’s response. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) have issued a warning to Roblox. The DICT and CICC have stated that Roblox could face restriction or suspension in the Philippines. The agencies are requiring Roblox to strengthen its child safety systems.
