Globe Telecom is set to roll out a new rewards model that allows subscribers to earn digital credits based on how they engage with its mobile ecosystem. These credits can later be redeemed for tangible rewards and services within the OneWave ecosystem, with Globe services and partner offerings among the potential use cases in the future. This setup is intended to ensure transparency, security, and auditability of all transactions tied to the rewards system. There's cancellation of domestic and int'l flights, road re-routing, class/work suspension, no drone flying zones and the suspension of telecom services by telcos. Yesterday, just moment before the arrival of the Pope in the Philippines, network service by all telcos were suspended or turned off. Likewise, suceeding SMS messages also confirmed that telcos had to abide by the mandate of NTC to suspend or limit services due to security reasons caused by the Pope's visit. Updated: According to telco sources, the mandate was for areas where the Pope is traveling and per cell tower. Among major telcos, Dito Telecommunity posted the highest VoLTE penetration at 41.9%, followed by Smart Communications at 31.7% and Globe Telecom at 27.4%.
