RIM announces BlackBerry Torch 9800

Research in Motion (RIM) unveiled today their new BlackBerry Torch 9800 handset which comes with both a full qwerty slider keyboard and a full touch-screen display.

3.2″ display @ 360×480 pixels
512MB RAM, 512MB ROM
4GB storage (up to 32GB via microSD, 4GB included)
3G @ 384Kbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1
5MP autofocus camera w/ LED flash + video
BlackBerry OS 6.0
GPS w/ a-GPS support
1300mAh Li-Ion battery

The BB Torch 9800 is the first handset from RIM to run the new BlackBerry OS 6.0. However, those having units like the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100, BlackBerry Bold 9650 and BlackBerry Bold 9700 can expect to have an upgrade to BB OS 6.0 soon.

It will initially be available to AT&T customers this August 12 and there’s no word when it will be released outside of the US.

The unit reminds me a lot of the Palm Pre though.

    noun An open, shallow, usually round container used especially
    for holding liquids. Selecting one that has proper mattress size.
    A baby crib with a soft mattress is the best option.
