Asus Eee PC 900, anyone?

Those waiting for the 9-inch Asus Eee PC will most probably be disappointed with the local retail price of around Php33,900. At that price, it already costs as much as a lot of regular laptops around.

The price of Php33,900 (see PC Corner listing here) for the Asus Eee PC is a little bloated because it will come with Microsoft Windows XP Home, a whooping 2GB of RAM and a bigger storage space of 12GB solid state drive.

Asus PC 900

The extra Php14,000 cost from the older generation Asus Eee 70x (where SRP is Php19,800) can be well attributed to the bigger drive space (SSD is pretty expensive), the MS XP pre-installed and additional RAM. Screen resolution is still awkward at 1024×600 pixels. PC Corner will also deliver it to your door step for free.

In the US, the Eee PC 70x model is selling for $399 and the Eee PC 900 will be sold for $549 this May. Read our previous review of the Asus Eee PC here.

Now that it’s out and available, what is the market’s verdict? Sold or not sold?!

P33,900??!!! Why can’t we get these stuff at the same as as the other countries are getting it? Why? oh why?

But anyway, there are neo laptops offered at the same price with powerful features and a bigger screen. Who would want to buy the Asus Eee PC 900?

O kaya, wait for the Atom-powered Eee PC 900 sometime in June, if you want a faster machine.

For mobile users mainly interested in basic wordpressing, spreadsheeting (teka, sounds… nevermind), and surfing/emailing, the 9-inch Asus Eee PC is worth it.

My back and neck agree. :-]

Sobrang mahal! Even at P45:$1 (ibig sabihin may profit margin na), dapat mga P25,000 lang iyan. Yup, I agree with Arnold. Iyong Neo laptops na lang, o di kaya wait for the Atom-powered UMPCs that are coming very soon.

WinXP version comes with lesser SSD than Linux. But they are of the same price.

But still, it should not be at 33,900…

No freakin’ way! I’ll get a Compaq notebook instead and save me some 5k or more.

    Me thinks this is overkill.

But, woah, the price is totally over the charts.
