MSI silently outs Windpad Enjoy 7 Android tablet

Listen to article

MSI usually puts out windows-based tablets to separate itself from the rest of the pack but it looks like it also has it own Android tablet as well. Announced in June this year at Computex Taiwan 2011, the MSI WindPad Enjoy 7 has arrived in local stores for a retail price of Php11,995.

It’s a bit off from MSI’s promised SRP of only $199 which should only translate to about Php8,500.

MSI WindPad Enjoy 7
7″ capacitive display @ 800×480 pixels
ARM Cortex A8 1.2GHz
4GB internal storage
512MB RAM
WiFi 802.11b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1
micro-HDMI out
VGA rear camera
VGA front-facing camera
17.3WHr battery (up to 6 hours)
Android 2.3 Gingerbread

The tablet weighs around 0.9lbs but looks a little chunky. You should be able to check out some samples or demo units at your nearest Villman store.

cherry’s reputation as a brand sucks. atleast MSI is known to be a decent computer brand. and they do have a service center for warranty issues. unlike in cherry, ah.. dunno know.

Out of the topic: Just a suggestion sir yuga, maybe you can add these in yuga deals, i mean those pabili thing when going out of the country…well the problem maybe is the Taxes when you reach here in Ph. Just an idea :)

By the way (still out of the topic), we all love the Med8er I bought from yuga deals, now I am learning to us torrent transmission on the unit! :D

More power!

as for the topic, yep, i agree, I suggest buying CM instead of this one. Taking out the brand, probably cherry is a better buy than this…but i hope cherry would not bog down after a month or two…don’t blame me! ;)

Everything is good except the price. 11.5K is too much for these specs. You can easily get a 7″ RK2918 5-point capacitive tablet like this in Hong Kong for well under $110 US. If one decides to import from sites like AliExpress (I buy occasionally from here), HotMID, BestMID and similar, it’ll still amount to well under $160 with the best shipping option (I always avail of UPS Worldwide Express Saver if available).

The Cherry Turbo Pad gets my vote here. I know some people may shoot down the Cherry Mobile brand as a whole, but if the Turbo Pad is indeed simply a Wopad i7 rebadge, then they’re getting a steal at the 6,800 Php promo price. The 9,800 Php SRP for the Turbo Pad is a bit much, mga 3-4K siguro tubo nila per tab if deducted simply against the purchase + shipping cost. I used purchase instead of manufacturing cost because Cherry Mobile doesn’t actually manufacture anything. They just rebrand Chinese OEM devices.

Basically, Cherry Turbo Pad = MSI WindPad Enjoy 7 spec-wise.

Archos 70 is better than this, right?

Actually, no. The Archos 70 IT uses an OMAP3630. This WindPad uses an RK2918. The RK2918 has a Vivante GC800 GPU that’s much faster than the SGX 530 on the OMAP3630. Also, the RK2918 has better video decoding support, able to decode 1080p H.264 High Profile content. Lastly, the 17.8W battery of the MSI pad translates to 4800 MAh, which is much higher than the 3850 MAh battery on the Archos 70.

Build quality and support is subjective though, as one can easily prefer the other brand. But the MSI pad wins against the Archos 70 IT in overall performance.

I have an upcoming trip to Taiwan next month. Maybe you can send over the funds and maybe I can swing by and get you one.
