In an announcement just now, Apple CEo Tim Cook has dropped the price of the Apple TV to just $69PHP 4,049INR 5,848EUR 66CNY 502 (from $99PHP 5,810INR 8,390EUR 94CNY 721).
Apple also claims they’ve sold over 25 million of these devices.
Along with the price drop, Apple has also announced HBO will now be available via Apple TV with HBO Now ready for streaming by April.
It’s $14.99PHP 880INR 1,270EUR 14CNY 109 a month. And for a limited time, the first month is free if you sign up on your Apple TV, iPad, or iPhone.
This is the first time HBO will be available outside of cable or satellite. All of the HBO movies and TV series catalog will be available (Game of Thrones anyone?).
The Apple TV has been around for many years but the current design iteration was introduced back in 2010 (read our review here).
The Apple TV used to sell for $99PHP 5,810INR 8,390EUR 94CNY 721 or about Php4,500USD 77INR 6,501EUR 73CNY 558. The new price puts it at just a little over Php3,000USD 51INR 4,334EUR 49CNY 372.
