AMD announces Radeon RX480 for just $199

Listen to article

AMD made an interesting announcement in Computex yesterday with their new mid-range Radeon RX480 graphics card that’s optimized for VR and should work very well with the likes of the HTC Vive and the Oculus.

The RX480 is based on the new Polaris 10 architecture and comes with at least 4GB/8GB of GDDR5 memory, 36 CUs, and 1.08GHz clock speed.

At a price point that starts at $199, the RX480 could be better than the R9 390 with a price tag of $329.

The Radeon RX480 is set to be released in June 29 and should arrive in the Philippines by July.

Unfortunately it will probably end up double the retail price thanks to PH customs.

Hi Abe.
I know your also a Computer Enthusiast. I want to hear your thoughts and review on this card against an unborn card of NVidia because yes 1080 and 1070 are out but the RX 480 is not a direct rival its more of a “VR made affordable” because if this is to be really compared the statement would be like “Panzer VI Tiger vs M-4 Sherman” Quality vs Quantity. will the mid-range card of NVidia also support VR the 1060.
