Apple launching a new app named Passwords next week

Listen to article

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is launching a new app named Passwords next week at their annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

The app is self-explanatory, as it’s set to store all your passwords in one easy-to-manage place. In other words, users may only need one dedicated password to access the tougher ones set aside.

For the readers that may wonder if Apple already does this, you aren’t wrong. But also, the new app will offer more user-friendly ways to organize your passwords in comparison to the present methods.

It should be able to separate account passwords from passkeys and Wi-Fi passwords with ease. In addition, it can also generate strong passwords for users like a standard password manager.

It’s also said to be able to generate authentication codes like the Authenticator app. Plus, it can autofill username and password fields for you.

The Passwords app is likely to debut with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. For now, we can only wait until WWDC 2024 for further details on the upcoming app.
