SmartBro's fixed wireless is now PLDT MyBro

Smart y PLDT están reorientando silenciosamente sus servicios de banda ancha. El servicio inalámbrico fijo, que es la marca original de SmartBro (anteriormente Smart WiFi), ahora está bajo una nueva etiqueta llamada PLDT myBro.

Eso significa que SmartBro ahora solo tendrá los servicios inalámbricos móviles (Plug-It, Pocket WiFi, Rocket, Rocket WiFi, etc.).

Esto coloca a myBro justo junto a la línea de servicios DSL de PLDT (PLDT myDSL), de ahí la convención de nombres.

Based on the release we've seen and the TV commercial, PLDT is positioning myBro to students.

Hay dos planes -- MyBro 799 con internet ilimitado a 512Kbps por Php799/mes y MyBro 999 que es ilimitado a velocidades de hasta 1Mbps.

However, the messaging that I am reading is that if you're already on PLDT myDSL (e.g. Plan 990 or Plan 999), there's no difference between the two so there's no need to switch. myDSL is fixed wired and myBro is fixed wireless so performance, uptime and latency will be different between these two services. If you're into PC gaming (which is a lot of the students are in their target market), you'd want to get the myDSL plan rather than the myBro plan.

i dont like PLDT kasi mahirap na mag apply.. hindi pa sila nag eexplain about service nila kaya magugulat ka nlang pag dumating na ang bill mo..

please help nag avail po ako ng my bro 499 bale 10 days ko pa lng sya nagagamit nawalan n ng connection then itinawag ko na sa *8888 and pinuntahan ko na din sa pldt office pinapa cut ko n po pero ayaw nila bakit ganun and yung bill tuloy2x pa din may babayad ka ba ng 3000 plus sa ted days internet? grabe talaga ang smart my bro

WAG. Mag-Globe ka. Kahit na hindi mabilis ang Globe at least reliable na mayroon kang internet.

Ang MyBro may cap. Mabilis nga, pero you can only enjoy those speeds for at most 1 week per month. The rest of the month, parang wala kang internet dahil automatic na ini-lilimit nila ang speed mo to 20KB/s max. Useless.

To clarify: yung 2mbps na promise nila seven days mo lang magagamit per month bago mo mareach ang cap.

Para kang bumili ng monthly supply na 1 liter na gatas kasi malalaki yung bote sa advertisement nila. Pero sa totoo, yung 1 liter, para lang yun sa first week, the rest of the month, kutsarita na lang ng gatas ang idedeliver nila.

Introducing MyBro wala ng Smart Bro kahit old subs ka pa MyBro na din.

Putting the fact aside na “Hindi alam ng CSR nila yung tungkol sa MAC problem ng service nila” ngayon na wala naman dati, hindi rin nila sayo ipapaalam na may CAP na.

Wala kami pinirmahan na CAP pero may CAP na yay

Hi guys. Does anyone here knows how to connect the plan499n to a router? ilang beses ko n kinonfigure ang router ko, ndi p rin makaacces ng internet through wifi and other ports. It’s just exclusive for 1 unit only ang nakalagay.

As per my experience with a 3 years smart Bro Connection(Now MyBro whether we like it or not) you need to clone the Mac address of the last device that worked on it.

Yes exclusive to one device kasi yung Ipad may ethernet port Not.

ung 2yrs contract na sinasabi mo jerrylyn is a lock in period…its a contract between the communication company and the subscriber. ibig sabihin ng lock in nakatali ka sa kanila for 2 years kapag gusto mo ipadisconnect within or sa loob ng 2years babayaran mo ung disconnection fee pero kapag lumagpas ka na sa 2 years hindi mo na need bayaran only your bills.

i thought kapag hindi ko nabayaran e mawawala nalang connection ko, sana po masagot nyo mo, sobrang nagaalala lang po ako kase 4months na ako hindi nakakabayad sana po tulungan nyo ko mapa-cancel yung 2years na yun… PLEASE HABANG MAAGA PO. TNX!

sa amin naman sa dasma pag umaga mga 6-12pm naabot ng 900Kbps ang Dl at 250Kbps Ul, yun nga lang pag dating ng mga 1pm kalahati nalang at worst mga 6pm almost 10kbps nalang dl at ul speed, anyways may nakakaalam ba dito kung may charges ba kung iupgrade ko nalang ito sa my DSL? yung up to 1.5mbps mas reliable ata yun kasi hindi na canopy ang gagamitin

ilang beses na akong tumawag at pumunta sa smart center hanggang ngayun hindi pa inaayos ung smart bro connection namin….nagbabayad lang kami ng monthly di naman nagagamit ung internet, ni isang site tagal magbukas, sometimes di pa nagbubukas me magaappear lang sa screen na you have limited connectivity or no network connection, ang promise up to 1MBPS pero sa tingin ko -1kbps

@kptdaaron; walang hiyang speed yan..ayus..this month try ko rin yang mybro na yan dito sa may SM bacoor lang banda..naka-promo sila ngayon, 499 lang for the first 2 mos, libre connection fee, 1mbps at 24-mos lock in period..argh..

Smartbro Wimax is not unlimited after all. Seldom ka lang makakakuha ng matinong connection. Make this as your last option. Kung may wired PLDT near you, get it.

For me d ko pa na try ang internet service ng SMARTMyBro/PLDT – its also called 4G/Wimax that they are using called canopy antenna – Base on my research we cannot sure the service performance unless u try and subscribe it.
Ito ang tanong:
– Are you satisfied the service paano kung d mo magustuhan ang service ng smartmybro?
– Nakagapos ka sa 12 months lock-in period and you need to pay for the whole year. and no choice is to pay their monthly bills.
– Advantage lang siguro ito sa mga selected areas. or 4G coverage areas. paano kng ikaw ay wla?

MY SOLUTIONS:
– Bumili ka nlng Outdoor 3G/4G Antenna sa electronic store gaya ng CDRKing at use your existing USB Modem. and use your SMARTbroadband, Globebroadband. or sun so its prepaid you can use it anytime only you want. since meron namang UNLI para mkagamit ka for the whole day. and you have an option which network you intended to used.

pldt never had a cap. Smart bro only has volume limited plans, similar to the meter of a taxi which is not capping per se but not unlimited either

since PLDT DSL is not affected by this news I expect no change, i.e. di magkakaroon ng capping

since mybro is just rebranded smart bro canopy and smart bro wimax, I doubg they’ll change it. So previously walang cap and now after rebranding malamang wala pa rin

yeah, nakakagulo at first.

they have 2 plan 799’s @ 512 kbps. One is a rebranded canopy, one is wimax. The other is wimax plan 999 at 1 mbps. Nakakagulo lang kasi right there in their website, both wimax plans are labeled as smart bro wimax.
