Google Talk updates

There has some new feature updates on Google Talk lately.

First is File Transfer:

Google File Transfer

To send a file with Google Talk:
1. From an active chat window, click the Send Files button.
2. Browse to the file or files you’d like to send (use CTRL-Shift to select more than one file at a time).
3. Click OK. Google Talk will insert your file into the chat session.

IMO, they should have had this feature when they first launch the IM.

Next is VoiceMail:

Voice Mail
Friends can now leave you a voicemail if you’re away. Not good if one does not have a mic. Yahoo’s way is a little better. Leaving you message even if you’re away.

Then, there’s the cute Music Status:

Music Status

Supported music players are iTunes, WIndows Media Player, WinAmp, and Yahoo Music Engine.

Yeah, i got familiar with this gtalk hack when a hacker friend sent me a similar file send request. I wonder why its still not patched:) did you receive any mail from google. In past even i mailed google about a embedded exploit in gtalk that can grant full access to the other person. Pretty critical. Still unpatched… google engineers listening??

its still in beta, the msn crossover from what i read. by the way YM did it so good that you don’t need to switch or open another chat client to see your msn friends, it adds them to your list. though I think @hotmail accounts are being use instead of the other version, i think lang ha, I havent explored it much.

I have no idea why one would want to switch exisitng contacts/users from YM to Googletalk. That’s saying, dear client, I want to ffer you less … makes no sense to me, jhay, perhaps you copuld explain a little more?

As mentione din the review, YM is still the only IM product who “get’s it”. If I want to send amessage, pass them a link to a web page, file, etc., I just right click on their name and send. If they are at their computer they might answer back … if they are away for three days, no matter, they’ll get it when they do log on. Why the rest of the IM’s think up nonesense like voice mail, email options etc., I have no idea. Perhaps there is someone who enjoys leaving voice mails or worse yet, retrieving them … I sure as heck don’t …. voic email is apoor, very poor, second-class substitue for just sending a one click message.

@vance, thanmks for the tip about adding MSN users, I* have v8 but haven’t explored it yet … maybe I cna now actually stay in touch with the otherwise hard to reach MSN’ers
