Last June, we got our hands on the Infinix GT 30 Pro. Fast forward to today, and we now have the base model Infinix GT 30 to play with. But this isn’t just any simmered-down base model you might think. It still carries that sleek gamer vibe, nifty gaming features like the GT Trigger, and most importantly, delivers powerful performance for less cash.

Yes, you read that right. Despite its gaming aesthetic, the Infinix GT 30 is on the more affordable side and doesn’t go over the Php12,000 mark. That means everyone can play and have their hands on a high-performance gaming phone, whatever your hobbies or interests are.
So, what else makes the Infinix GT 30 special? Let’s break down the biggest features you need to know!
Striking Mecha design
First off, let’s talk about that intricate design at the rear. Surprisingly, it appears that the GT 30 has adopted similar visuals from the GT 30 Pro Gaming Master Edition, particularly with the new colorways. It now comes in two more options: Pulse Green and Cyber Blue, the latter of which is the unit we have on hand.

The level of detail adds more depth to its overall look, ultimately showing off that Cyberpunk vibes. But if you dig a bit more minimalist approach, then Shadow Ash and Blade White colorways are the way to go.
Of course, we can’t miss those strips of LED lighting that are seamlessly integrated into the rear design. Infinix still aptly calls them “Mechanical Light Waves,” that illuminate based on screen activity. Say, when you’re taking a call, getting a notification, or simply playing a game, it dynamically lights up.
GT Trigger: Enhancing gameplay, more functionality
Speaking of playing games, the built-in shoulder triggers or should I say, GT Triggers, are a really nice addition for such an affordable gaming device. It gives us console-level controls that will surely help in making those crazy outplays.

As for me, I’m not a pro-gamer myself, but when I’m playing first-person shooter games like PUBG or Call of Duty: Mobile, I find it hard to aim while spamming the fire button at the same time. Now, with GT Trigger, I can simply map the right shoulder trigger as the fire button for my index finger while using my thumb to aim more easily.
I can also see MOBA players making use of this feature. For example, when I want to quickly check the KDA (kills, death, assist) info panel, I can just use the GT Trigger instead of hovering my thumb on the top of the screen to access it. That’s pretty neat if you ask me.
Setting it up is easy, too. Go ahead and customize your in-game control settings > swipe from the left to access X Boost > scroll down a bit until you find ‘GT Trigger’ > you can then map the controls to your liking.

Outside of gaming, though, the GT Trigger offers more functionality for daily use. It can serve as a shutter button, provide quick access to system functions like silent mode, or launch custom apps quickly while the screen is locked. On top of that, it can also control video playback, such as pausing, playing, or fast-forwarding a video on YouTube.
I also like the fact that the right shoulder trigger, which is closer to your palm in vertical mode, is automatically disabled to prevent accidental touches.
Certified 120 FPS gaming, smooth 144Hz display
Despite the affordable price tag, the GT 30 sure can take a beating. Under the hood, it runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 5G chip with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Interestingly, certain mobile games are certified to run at 120 fps consistently on the Infinix GT 30 including two of the most popular MOBAs in the country, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Honor of Kings. I tried that out myself, and can confirm, MLBB runs smoothly at such high frame rates.

Taking a look at our benchmark result, the phone was able to achieve an ANTUTU score of 928,496. That’s a really good number already, considering its price point.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a fully satisfying experience if the phone wasn’t as responsive, and for that, the GT 30 doesn’t disappoint. While it supports 520Hz of default touch sampling, it can reach up to 2160Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate for smoother operation.

The crisp 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display running at up to 144Hz also delivers that smoothness when navigating the screen, doom scrolling on your socials, and playing those games certified for 120 fps.
Gaming is a breeze (literally) with MagCooling Fan
As for the thermal solution, Infinix included a large 20,000mm² total heat dissipation area, which is the same as the GT 30 Pro. Notably, there’s also bypass charging support that reduces heat build-up and thermal throttling, while at the same time helping extend the phone’s battery health in the long run.

For context, the phone packs a larger-than-usual 5500mAh battery paired with 45W fast charging.
At this point, overheating shouldn’t be an issue since there’s also a MagCooling Fan for a more active cooling solution. Best of all, this useful accessory is included as a nice freebie for early buyers. So, there’s that.
Initial thoughts
My initial impressions so far are good, as the phone has managed to establish itself as a high-performance gaming device that can outplay the rest of the competition. All of its gaming-focused features, along with substantial performance at a more accessible price, are definitely a win for everyone, gamers and casual players alike.

Believe it or not, the Infinix GT 30 5G has a promo price of PHP 10,499 (8GB+256GB) making it a compelling option in its class. The Infinix GT 30 retails at PHP 11,999, available in Cyber Blue Pulse Green, Shadow Ash, and Blade White. Each unit comes with a free GT 30 MagCooling Fan, while stocks last.
