Shoot-out: Nokia 808 vs. Galaxy S3 vs. Canon S100

What we have here is a photo shoot-out between the largest cameraphone, the most popular Android handset and the favorite point-and-shoot camera. We'll look at some sample photos to give us a better perspective on how the 41-megapixel PureView technology fares against other favorites.

We did not have time to set up everything but managed to take a couple of shots of the same subject using the Canon S100, Samsung Galaxy S3 to pit against the Nokia 808 PureView. I wish we had a better set up but the initial results shown here gave us a better picture.

canon S100 is not a dslr camera! so you can’t adjust the settings eg. apperture, focal length and shutter speed. nokia pureview 808 is just simply amazing in photo shoot.

just for your information, it does come with PASM mode.

Alin po ba sa plant pictures ang kuha o halos pareho dun sa plant na kinunan mo. Di naman siguro tama na sabihin yung 808 maganda na hindi mo ikumpara sa kinunan mo mismo.

Mas kapareho ba ng 808 pics ung kinunan mo? O mas maganda lang ang kulay o pag ka green ng canon at s3 pero malayo ang color sa tanim na kinunan?

kung titignan mo yung shots ng canon s100 at samsung galaxy s3 parang nagmukhang plastic yung halaman. Maganda ang color rendition ng Pureview. Nakakita na ako ng ganyang halaman kaya alam ko yung totoong kulay niyan.The shots of s100 and gs3 are so much identical.

parang mas ok talaga ang s100 e in raw shots. pero may potential pa siguro na mas maging maganda ang PureView kapag ginamitan ng ibang photo editing programs. mas mataas kasi ang pixel density ng PureView at 41mp.

Sir, maganda siguro kung itest siya using fixed ISO para may constant ka, parang macompare talaga. Kumpara naman sa all auto settings na labo labo ang variables. Opinyon lang! :D

Just Curious, how many megabytes is a typical 41-Megapixel picture.

And will your typical low-mid end PC opens such big pictures with ease?

Typically 5MP PureView shots are 1-2Mb in size. 34-38MP Full Resolution shots are 5-12Mb in size, depending on subject.

One thing Yuga probably didn’t know or failed to mention, Is that it’s not a 41 Megapixel picture, it’s a 41 megapixel Sensor camera. it takes 41 megapixel of information, then recalculate it to produce a stunning 5/8/38 Mpxs of pictures default, which is great for social sharing at that size.

The intention of the developers of the Nokia 808 PureView is to capture “natural light.” they didn’t crank the saturation, the contrast. It’s all natural light. But if you want to capture an image that will look like it’s taken using just a normal smart phone then you can always select Vivid in the Color mode under custom settings.

Na-disappoint akong malaman na i-dudump ng Nokia ang Windows 8 for their current Lumia Series.

Sinayang nila ang N9 before, pati ba naman ang Lumia 900!

Sana maglabas sila ng dual- or quad-core Windows 8-running Lumia 808 PureView.

Nokia, may competition kasi eh. Onting aggressiveness naman oh! Hahaha!

FYI. Nokia can’t upgrade their lumia series to the windows 8 platform because Windows 7 itself cannot be upgraded to the next windows platform. It is what microsoft said, at least. So, It isn’t only the nokia lumias not getting the upgrade but it includes all of the current wp7 out there.

sir, walang support for multi-cores ang windows 7, sa windows 8 ata an address yun, pati yung screen resolution sa windows 8 na address. kaso di upgradable ang 7 to 8.

Actually po, you can upgrade the Wp7.5 t0 7.8. almost similar to WP8 because some features from WP8 will be compatible. But overall, WP8 is hardware dependent.
