To strengthen SIM registration efforts, Globe recommends three measures. First, they call on the government to allow for alternative forms of identification (IDs); Second, they appeal for conditional registration to be allowed as customers process their valid IDs; Lastly, they ask for the government to create always-on government-handled assisted registration centers in government offices.
Globe emphasized that failure to register SIMs would result in deactivation and would be disruptive to their customers, as their
basic right to communication would be curtailed. They mentioned how deactivation would impact several aspects of Globe customers' daily life such as banking, e-commerce, transportation (ride-hailing apps, food delivery, etc), healthcare, education (online learning), entertainment, and more.
As of today, no announcement of extension for the SIM registration has been announced.
A law is a LAW and is not meant to be broken. Deactivating unregistered SIM cards is the only way for them to comply with the LAW.
