The iPhone 4S has just started pre-selling in Singapore so we’re thinking the Philippines could be next (based on last year’s trend, this could be 3 to 4 weeks). The starting price — SGD948, just over Php32k for the 16GB model. That’s about Php2k more expensive than last year.
Based on current conversion rates, the prices of iPhone 4S in Singapore is as follows.
iPhone 4S 16GB – Php32,300USD 550INR 46,661EUR 524CNY 4,008
iPhone 4S 32GB – Php36,800USD 627INR 53,161EUR 597CNY 4,567
iPhone 4S 64GB – Php42,200USD 719INR 60,962EUR 685CNY 5,237
If we extrapolate the price difference from last year’s iPhone 4 price with Globe Telecom, there’s a Php7USD 0.12INR 10EUR 0.11CNY 0.87.5k and Php8USD 0.14INR 12EUR 0.13CNY 0.99.5k margin for the 16GB and 32GB models.
That means, we could see the following prepaid kit prices from Globe when they release the iPhone 4S in the Philippines:
iPhone 4S 16GB – Php39,800USD 678INR 57,495EUR 646CNY 4,939
iPhone 4S 32GB – Php45,300USD 772INR 65,440EUR 735CNY 5,622
iPhone 4S 64GB – Php50,700USD 864INR 73,241EUR 823CNY 6,292
Now that’s gonna be a hard sell. I just hope Globe rationalizes it and brings it down a bit (maybe like a 35k, 40k and 45k pricing plan?). This is just an estimate based on historical data so it’s not final yet until we’ve actually seen it.

Well, you’re not really supposed to buy it as is.
I got my iphone4 just for S$210, coz it comes with a plan.
The telco should be subsidizing it for you,
and sell their service rather than the phone itself.

The problem with Globe Telecom as the exclusive iPhone carrier is that they overprice the iPhone. Instead of subsidizing the phone, they actually price their prepaid units higher than retail prices abroad.

Rex Demiliot says:
35, 40, and 45K with their lowest plan is not even reasonable. Why are you giving Globe ideas? Seriously? Do you want Globe to think that those prices are reasonable?? Seriously?
Prices should be around the same as before since they are the announced price in the US.
They should be 29, 35, 40 which is last year’s price which should be the same since the Iphone 4s has the same price in the US as before.
Even at 29, 35, 40K at their lowest plan, that is still expensive!
To even suggest 35, 40, 45? Do you work for globe?
Rex Demiliot says:
Uhhh….why don’t you re-read what you wrote if you are really the one who wrote it.
Read my reply. In my reply I was saying 35, 40,45 which you mentioned in your parenthesis .
Your prepaid price assumptions are 39800, 45300, and 50700.
You can read your post again.
You mentioned pricing PLAN.
I assume that you are mentioning a postpaid PLAN.
But, if you trying to say that the 35, 40, and 45 are for prepaid, then I will apologize as there might just be some wording misunderstanding.
“That means, we could see the following prepaid kit prices from Globe when they release the iPhone 4S in the Philippines:
iPhone 4S 16GB – Php39,800
iPhone 4S 32GB – Php45,300

Rex Demiliot says:
If what you mentioned as pricing plan is for the prepaid kit and not for a post paid plan, then I humbly apologize to you.
The word PLAN can easily be thought of as post paid plan so that is where I based my assumption. A better word that will confuse people could have been used as I assume others will also assume your PLAN might mean post paid.
If 35k, 40K, 45K pricing for a prepaid KIT is what you meant and not a post-paid plan, then those prices sound a bit more reasonable though still expensive.
