Today we’re checking out the last of the Realme 6 series to arrive here in the Philippines, the eponymous Realme 6. The middle member of the line-up sports a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, which is one of the best for gaming in 2019, so clearly Realme is positioning it as a gaming smartphone.
It’s fairly large clocking in at 6.5-inches. It uses a nice IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate — almost the same as the Realme 6 Pro, only this time the punch-hole only houses a single 16MP front camera, instead of a dual setup.
The left side houses the triple card tray with slots for two nanoSIM cards and one microSD card, as well as the volume buttons.
The right side is furnished with a fingerprint scanner that also acts as the power button.
At the bottom, we have the headphone jack, main microphone, USB-C port, and loudspeaker.
Checking out the back, it’s got a simple gradient design that’s quite reflective, therefore a smudge and fingerprint magnet — better use the included case. For rear cameras, the Realme 6 has got four of them. That’s a 64MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor.
We’ll be giving our full evaluation of the cameras in our full review, but for now, check out these sample photos.
Powering the Realme 6 is, like I said in the beginning, a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset with a Mali-G76 MC4 GPU, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. For battery, we get a 4,300mAh capacity with support for 30W VOOC fast charging, just like the Realme 6 Pro.
Between the Realme 6 and the Realme 6 Pro. the Pro looks like it lives up to its name because of its propensity towards cameras and creative/multimedia features, while the Realme 6 is geared more towards gaming thanks to the hefty quantity of RAM and the beefy chipset. The series as a whole is clear-cut with regards to the needs of different types of users, which is good.
And I’m betting that the Realme 6 in particular will be pretty popular due to the features it packs, along with its expected price point of around under PHP12k.
