Asian Development Bank approves USD 2.75-Billion loan for Malolos-Clark railway

Asian Development Bank (ADB), established in 1966, has approved the USD 2.75-Billion loan for the railway construction that links Malolos, Bulacan to Clark airport in Pampanga.

“The project, combined with other investments in light rail transit, metro rail transit, and subway systems, will bring back the culture of rail transport in Metro Manila,” Takehiko Nakao, Asian Development Bank President

This construction is a 53.1-kilometer train line connecting Malolos to Clark International Airport. This is a part of the 163-km North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project that connects New Clark City to Manila and will stretch to Calamba, Laguna.

ADB will shoulder the cost of construction of stations, bridges, tunnel, and viaducts for the train tracks. The entire NSCR is projected to be complete by 2025, however, partial operations are targeted by 2022.
