Globe projects a higher 5G device penetration among its customers this year with the continuous expansion of 5G coverage in the country and the release of more affordable 5G-capable handsets.

Globe says that as of the end of December 2021, it detected over 1.62 million 5G devices in its network, a huge chunk of which came from prepaid brands. This represents a 300% ownership growth in the fourth quarter versus the first quarter of last year.
“We expect this momentum to continue, especially as all major device partners today carry and banner 5G handsets in their portfolios coupled with our continued 5G network expansion,” said Darius Delgado, Globe Head of Consumer Mobile Business.
Globe also said that it now has over 2,000 5G sites providing outdoor coverage for 96% of the National Capital Region and 84% of key cities in Visayas and Mindanao. The telco has also made several entry-level and mid-range 5G models available for free if subscribed to a postpaid plan or at a competitive price.
Globe also continues to offer more 5G services which include more 5G roaming services in more countries in Europe and other 5G-ready telcos worldwide.
