Globe successfully deploys 500 LTE sites with 700MHz band

Globe Telecom has announced that it has hit its target of deploying 500 LTE sites using the 700MHz band (L700) in its efforts to improve mobile internet service in the country.

Globe said that the L700 sites were deployed mostly in Metro Manila and other highly-populated areas, where the majority of customers using LTE-based handsets are located.

The achievement is part of the telco’s target of deploying about 4,500 multiband, multi-mode software-defined radio station equipment to about 95% of cities and municipalities in the country within a 3-year period, as committed to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). In addition, Globe has also activated 900 addition LTE sites using the 2600 megahertz band which mostly benefitted customers in Metro Cebu and Metro Davao.

Globe began deployment of LTE sites using the 700 MHz band in June 2016 following the partial acquisition of San Miguel’s telecommunication assets, which also included spectrum resources in the 1800 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 2600 MHz.

  1. Still got crappy internet service, being capped that is. Useless upgrade.

  2. I am currently subscribed to Globe’s broadband LTE plan 1299 but the connection has been very slow for almost 2 weeks now. Speedtest result only shows maximum download speed of around 30kBps, far from the expected maximum speed of 300kBps (or 3Mbps ). And no improvement in speed even after 3 or 4 calls to their customer service. According to one of the cs rep, Globe has an ongoing activity with their LTE service but could not provide completion date of the said activity.

  3. Although mobile internet speeds in Philippines had obviously grew faster, our fixed line internet needs attention. Akamai’s Q3 report showed that our country suffered a decline in average internet speeds for fixed lines(DSL, Fixed LTE, Fiber). Also adoption rate of above 4 mbps speeds in our country also suffered a decline.

  4. parang wala naman nagbago. Mabagal pa rin.

  5. 800 MB limit should be increased or removed
