All things to know about the upcoming HONOR MagicPad 3

Listen to article

HONOR came to the market with its first MagicPad tablet in 2023, then followed it up with a sequel last year. Now they’ve released some images to confirm that a third iteration is going to be released this year – remaining faithful to the schedule. Here’s what we know about the HONOR MagicPad 3.

The rear of the upcoming HONOR MagicPad 3 sports a plain but elegant design. As seen on the bottom, it continues the trend of IMAX certification which should give it some credibility for movie-watching. At the top, meanwhile, is a dual-camera setup accompanied by an LED flash. The three pins at the very bottom are highly likely to be used for connecting to a keyboard accessory or a stand.

While we don’t have any photos of the display, it is said to receive a size increase from the MagicPad 2’s 12.3-inch screen to a more expansive 13.3-inch version. However, this increase in size is rumored to be exchanged with a switch from OLED to LCD technology. While modern LCD technologies have worked out most of their flaws, it cannot be denied that OLED displays are perceived to be of higher quality due to deeper blacks and more vivid, contrasting colors. This may not be ideal for those who aim to primarily use this for content consumption on a larger screen.

At the very least, refresh rates are still kept at a high 165 Hz, and a 3.2K resolution should keep even the pixel-peepers from finding much fault.

Other notable specs include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a previous-generation flagship chipset. Sure, it may not be the 8 Elite, but the Gen 3 is still a superb powerhouse and should run any and all applications with no issues whatsoever. 16GB of RAM should take care of all multitasking needs, and the MagicPad 3 can be configured with up to 1TB of storage.

Battery capacity is also slated to receive a boost from 10,050 mAh to a beefier 12,450 mAh to support the larger screen. Should the lights go out, 66W fast charging is there to save the day. Despite the chunkier battery pack, the MagicPad 3 remains quite portable at a thickness of 5.79mm and a weight of 595g.

What do you think about it?
