Pager-Inspired Power Bank shows retro tech trend

Listen to article

A pager-inspired power bank that can send short messages to nearby devices is drawing attention online, showing how retro tech designs are returning in modern gadgets.

The device, called the Trozk Beeper Power Bank, looks similar to the pagers that were widely used in the 1990s. Aside from charging phones, the device can send preset messages to another Beeper power bank within range. The messages appear on a small screen, similar to how pager alerts worked before smartphones became common.

The gadget works like a regular portable charger with a 10,000mAh battery capacity, which can power smartphones and other devices during the day. The messaging feature works only when another Beeper power bank is nearby, allowing users to send simple preset messages that appear on the other device’s screen.

The design has gained attention online because it brings back the look of pagers, which were widely used before mobile messaging apps and smartphones became popular.

The device also reflects a wider trend in the tech industry where companies bring back older designs with modern functions. In recent years, several gadgets have used retro styles, including flip phones, cassette players, and mechanical keyboards.

The Trozk Beeper Power Bank is listed online for ₱2,799 on The Nest Manila, though the product is currently out of stock on the retailer’s website.
