Pinoys fly to Hong Kong to line up for iPhone 5S

Listen to article

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are scheduled for release in selected countries today. While the Philippines isn’t on the list, neighboring countries Singapore and Hong Kong are included and we receive reports the folks flew to Hong Kong just to line up and get their iPhone 5S.

Our @geekynights co-host @dalekins flew to Hong Kong yesterday in order to line-up and get his hands on the iPhone 5S first.

Lines have already formed in all Apple Stores and Authorized Reseller Stores across the city of HK as early as 6AM today. Customers are given claim stubs based on pre-orders they made at the Apple Online Store last September 13.

Based on the Apple Hong Kong Online Store, the iPhone 5C will sell for Php26,500 while the iPhone 5S will start at Php32,000.

So what is the big deal about this article’s headline? Obviously those people have money to spend, so good for them. Why should we care about how people spend their own money? They will help the local economy moving by spending on gas/bus/taxicabs,foods at the airport and plane tickets. The only shame is if they did not fly there by PAL. But again, it’s their own money so we don’t have a say on how they fly.

Alam mo ba pinag sasabi mo ha? For your information, android ang OS ng VERTU, the most expensive and only luxury phone. Umpisa sa hundreds to million ang vertu. May dalawang vertu ako, does that mean poor ako dahil di ako pumunta ng HK at bumili ng chipipay na apple? Ganun? Mag aral ka muna bago ka mang offend! Malau super yaman ang mga naka android.

ZA
zarne · 13 years ago

@ AndroidFan….Vertu made luxury phones but Vertu phones are not the most expensive or the only luxurious phones around. The cost of the Vertu T1 at $11,000 is a drop in the bucket in comparison to the Iphone 5 ‘diamond editon’ at $15 million.
Check this out..

When you have an inferiority wound you will tend to remember it whenever you see someone doing things that you think you can’t do. Your wound could be a generalized one like thinking that you are no good in doing anything or a specific one like thinking that you can’t achieve financial success. The more generalized your wound is there more will be the feelings of envy in your life.

I also agree that they may look stupid and irrational in going there just to become the very first owners of the iphone 5s. But maybe some of them are resellers or bussinessmen. Whatever may be there decisions if sariling pera nila at di nakaw, wala na tayong paki non. Sourgraping lang talaga yong iba.

I don’t understand why a lot has to be so bitter with people who can afford to buy an iPhone. They just happen to have money that’s why and it’s their choice… If you can’t buy then just shut up… I have a nothing against Android users but I just hate people who continue to bash Apple or vice versa… Let’s all be contented with what we can afford… Peace everyone…

Lol at these folks for wasting their valuable time and money just to get the latest iPhone. Sure, you can buy it there for cheap but the flight costs aren’t worth it. Stupid people who want to look cool by going there and posting to social networking sites just to brag that they’re willing to go as far as going overseas just to get the latest iPhone. They’re no different from those WP8 fanboys who brag a lot about their shiny-ass OS. What a bunch of moronic idiots!

Magtatayo ang apple ng Apple Store soon sa Bonifacio Global City sa Taguig. Mga 2014 or 2015 pa bubukas.
If you back read on yugatech’s post about the apple store and also in skyscrapercity.com’s west super block thread (just go to Philippine forums, click Taguig under metro Manila projects on the rise, and find west super block thread there (to go to the first page of the west super block thread, click the thread title.). You will find the answer if when the apple store opens.
