Synology launches DSM 7.0, C2 platform cloud expansion

Synology has announced the upcoming release of Disk Station Manager (DSM) 7.0 and the expansion of the Synology C2 platform.

DSM 7.0 is set to release soon, and it focuses on enhancing security, system management capabilities, and improving data collaboration for Synology’s NAS and SAN product lines.

Synology has also announced new hybrid and cloud-only products that include a new password manager, directory as a service, cloud backup, and secure transferring solutions.

Meanwhile, launching at the same time as the software update are new hybrid cloud services called Hybrid Share and Active Insight. Hybrid Share combines Synology’s C2 storage flexibility with on-premise solutions and allows users to synchronize files so important data is always available. Active Insight is a large-scale device monitoring and diagnostics solution that will enable IT admins to view all devices from a cloud-based management system. C2 Identity, a hybrid cloud directory as a service to simplify cross-site domain management.

Furthermore, also launching are C2 Password, C2 Transfer, and C2 backup. These are standalone solutions for modern needs to protect passwords, share files and back up any endpoints and cloud services.

Synology has also revealed that the company is heavily investing in expanding the availability of its cloud platform by opening a new data center location to expand its services to the Asia Pacific region.

DSM 7.0 and the new C2 solutions have concluded over seven months of public testing, and Synology says that the products will be available soon.
