Uber Eats launching in the Philippines

Listen to article

Uber’s food delivery service Uber Eats is launching in the Philippines, according to the company’s online classifieds.

The ride-hailing company is actively looking for a General Manager based in the Philippines, specifically in Manila, to oversee the operations of the upcoming food delivery service offering including forging partnerships, scaling the business, and balancing the marketplace between consumers and businesses who jump into the service. The company has also opened a subdomain for UberEats in Manila 13, though it may take time for actual listings to appear nearby.

Uber Eats is a food-delivery service that has started in key cities in the USA last 2014, and now caters to over 150 cities in the world, 15 of which are in Asia. Once launched locally, Uber will compete with current food delivery services available locally such as FoodPanda and HonestBee.

No timeline is set for Uber Eat’s launch as the company is still keeping applications open, though we may see a mid to late 2018 launch for the service. Qualified applicants for the GM position may submit their CVs here.
