This review unit of an Intex Envy Android tablet arrived last week. It’s an affordable 7-inch Froyo tablet that comes with a resistive screen (reason why they’re able to make it that cheap).
For Php6,995USD 119INR 10,105EUR 114CNY 868 you’re getting a Cortex A9 chip running at 1GHz. See complete specs below:
Intex Envy M709MR Android Tablet
7-inch resistive display @ 800×480 pixels
Amlogic 8726M with Cortex A9 Core 1GHz
ARM Mali-400 graphics with 3D acceleration support
512MB RAM
512MB ROM
8GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g
micro-USB port
mini-HDMI port
Flash 10.1 support
3750mAh battery
Android 2.2 Froyo
It’s got an HDMI port that allows you to play up to 1080P full HD videos to an external display. Weird though that the OS is looking for cellular service when there’s no SIM card slot embedded in the tablet.
The battery like isn’t the best and only lasts for about 4 hours on WiFi.
Not the most impressive tablet in its category but for the really budget-conscious (I mean, those who don’t have Php10k and above to spare for a tablet), this is more than enough. Would be interesting to compare it with that popular Kingcom Joypad.
Suggested retail price is Php6,995USD 119INR 10,105EUR 114CNY 868.

Eason says:
wow it looks nice for a cheap froyo tablet, the specs are good too. Just like Coby tablets but it looks better
rnovino says:
hi sir yuga where can I buy this ??
kyflo says:
Specs is already good but they should also have a variant that has a capacitive touchscreen display and runs with 3.1 Honeycomb OS.
Ric says:
What’s it like playing Angry Birds on a resistive screen? Anyone know?
nameless says:
Waaah! The indians are invading the world! What about us filipinos?
intersectRaven says:
If this used a capacitive touchscreen it would’ve been a no-brainer to buy. The difference between capacitive and resistive touchscreens are hugely noticeable upon usage. :(
ay says:
i would probably buy one if its offered at yugadeals for 5thousand or less :)
Ed says:
Sir Yuga? Capacitive or Resistive?
YuYu says:
how’s the resistive screen? parang V9 ba?
such a shame says:
what a waste of a decent processor.
froyo + resistive + 4 hour battery + a bezel that looks like it’s just asking for scratch marks
it would have been great 2 years ago. passable a year ago. but this year, with the tablets that are already out, no way. there are more decent (china even) ones out there at that price.
just because you get a review unit doesn’t mean you gotta recommend it everytime, you know? even for budget-conscious buyers.
lawrence says:
However you rub it, some people will still buy this thing. This is the better alternative for the china-made ones, primarily because the warranty and the processor. Keep in mind that you cannot get a 1Ghz from a decent OEM for under 10K. And 1ghz is a make or break for an android tablet, because of the Flash support.
The resistive screen though would really make a huge difference. It can really downgrade the android experience. Some people won’t care though.
I think if they made this capacitive, the price won’t mark up that high.3K difference would be enough, I guess, so they better release a capacitive variant.
Pinoy Persuasion says:
No, thank you!
Kyle says:
Looks like crap. Shame about the specs though. That Cortex A9 with a Mali-400 GPU (same as the SGS II’s GPU) is juicy as hell. I would gladly pay more for a capacitive touchscreen, WSVGA res, and better battery life.
JmBalicano says:
Hi, does anyone know where to find this? This is the glorified ebook reader I’ve been looking for!
Ace says:
Resistive is the spec that makes you “resist” this tablet…
Josh says:
Hello Yuga!
Hope you can also make a review of Kingcom’s Joypad… I’m actually thinking of buying one for my dad, he’s really fond of using touchscreen devices, and doesn’t care if it is capacitive or resistive and I think the Joypad’s a real good pick for my budget… :>
aze says:
sir Yuga i know po that this is off topic, but can i request that you create a blog post about smart phones at 10-15k range that would be available at the end of november or early november. I am planning po of buying 1, but then i dont know what to buy, siguro po kahit mga november nyo an i post para available na yung mga phones :):) thanks po in advance.
anti-BS says:
Why are these companies keep releasing outdated crap? froyo? this is DOA
anti-BS says:
Sorry for my post ^ I didn’t really take the time to reconsider the price but this is still not worth it.
Tablets are made for portability that this android version and 4 hours battery life is just lame. I recommend to buy a netbook instead.
Joe says:
got this from hello in sm north. i think it’s the best entry tablet out there if you’re on a budget( especially for people like me who’s not always after the best and latest gadgets). the responsiveness of the touchscreen isn’t as good as Samsung’s or the Ipad, but isn’t as bad as you might think either. besides, it came w/ a free stylus. wifi is pretty fast. was good for about 7 hours playing games and videos. might be less if wifi was on all the time though. personally, i think it’s a great buy.
noob says:
what is the difference between resistive and capacitative?
gian-carlo says:
sir yoga how to adjust the wallpapers? mine is so stretch but if its the living wallpapers no problem at all.
Mano says:
“It’s got an HDMI port”…some grammar error
iloveboracay says:
This is a really really cheap tablet but i’m worried with the brand.
azhar says:
Does any one tell me how to install any application on this tab
Paul Hernandez says:
Oo nga.
I got this tablet free here in dubai, but somehow i dunno
How to install apps for this, unlike iphone and ipad
Na madaling ma install kasi may appstore sila.
Jieben says:
Db android ito? E d sa android market maraming app dun
Pinoy_Mola says:
Mga Sirs, saan po ba makakabili nito dito sa Pinas. Maganda po ba ang quality?
Bonn Alipiop says:
