Vodafone expressed its interest in applying as the third telco player and has been conducting its due diligence since February this year. Diokno also said that Vodafone may still enter the country even if a third telco player has already been identified. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is set to conduct an invitation bid on October 7. The development comes as the Philippines works to attract more foreign telecom players and widen broadband access nationwide.
