I think you can use the regular AA batteries in its stead if you want to bring this to a remote island or the boondocks where there's no electricity (just bring a whole pack of them Energizer batteries with you) or internet (no WiFi either). Those 8 batteries can last the unit for about 4 hours. You also don't need to worry about getting a separate charger since the netbook itself can re-charge the batteries when on AC.
