Apple has sent an email to notify subscribers that Maya will be removed as a payment method for any Apple ID purchases. Maya, known as PayMaya, was accepted as a mode of payment for Apple in October 2019. Apple ID will no longer be accepting Maya as a payment method starting August 16. Should users still have the digital bank as a mode of payment, it will be removed from their Apple ID. Users are suggested to switch their mode of payment should ever they use Maya. There's no statement made by Maya or reason given by Apple about this change.
