In both my talks yesterday and today, I mapped out the history of pro-blogging by referring to 2003 as 1 B.A. It's been a while since I did a talk in iBlog but beyond the numbers and online stats discussed, it's the offline connections that makes it all more real. Photos by Digital Spidey My second day was spent on Blog_Fest 1.0 where we discussed (with veteran journalists Yvonne Chua and Ira Panganiban) the merits of the 5th estate (citizen journalists), the role of bloggers in the realm of new media and the blogger code of ethics. It's great to have both mainstream media and bloggers all in the same room and talking about the future of "journalism". And going back to my presentation, I'd like to share this one slide I presented in my two talks as it also reflects the evolution of the blogging profession. HONOR Philippines won 24 awards at the HONOR Southeast Asia Summit 2026, recognizing its performance, growth, and impact in the region. Barely 3 months after we saw big blog networks re-balancing their budgets, there's another one that's just finished brewing headed by Gawker Media's head-honcho himself, Nick Denton, with a self-leaked internal memo. Denton himself published the internal memo on the Gawker blog the other day, revealing plans to chop off 19 writers across his network.
