YouTube is testing Community Notes, helping viewers consume content with added context. Similar to X, this feature marks videos with notes to help viewers understand the content better. Viewers may rate the notes as “very helpful”, “somewhat helpful”, or “not helpful”. Further, YouTube is developing a system to decide which notes it will display under videos. This will give priority to notes with positive ratings from different viewers, helping the useful ones stand out. Western readers may join YouTube’s Community Notes testing, provided that you have an active account adherent to their platform’s rules. Meta is set to shake up how we view fact-checking by testing its new Community Notes feature on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads starting March 18th in the US. The tech giant is taking a page from X’s playbook, letting a diverse group of contributors write and rate notes on posts rather than relying solely on traditional fact-checkers.
