The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has confirmed that there will be no extension for the SIM registration. DICT has stated that the SIM registration deadline will not be extended. “As the deadline for SIM registration draws near, it is imperative that all unregistered citizens take this matter seriously and register their SIMs without delay. As of March 30, there are currently 4,170,923 registered SIMs for DITO, Globe has 22,683,410 registered and SMART has 27,846,566. The ongoing SIM registration is in accordance with Republic Act No. DITO Telecommunity intends to implement SIM registration of its subscribers as fast as three months. "We can implement the SIM registration ahead of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) at no cost to subscribers," said DITO Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Chief Technology Officer, Retired Major General Rodolfo Santiago explained that a structure for registration has been already included in DITO's system since the inception of the SIM Registration law.
