The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is introducing cashless payments for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT). The feature joins existing cashless payment options on LRT-2 which include mobile NFC payments and GCash Commute QR. The discounted fare matrix, implemented by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), applies to single-journey tickets, stored-value cards, and cashless payments starting March 23. The integration builds on GCash’s existing rollout in MRT-3, where cashless payment options have been available since July last year.
