Commuters can now access the 50% fare discount on MRT-3 using GCash, as part of the government’s push to ease transportation costs amid rising prices.

The discounted fare matrix, implemented by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), applies to single-journey tickets, stored-value cards, and cashless payments starting March 23.
Ways to use GCash for MRT-3 discount
- Use GCash Commute QR at stations
- Tap via NFC-enabled Android phone
- Pay using GCash Visa card
With this update, GCash users can avail of the reduced fares directly through the app using multiple payment options.

The integration builds on GCash’s existing rollout in MRT-3, where cashless payment options have been available since July last year.
By enabling access to discounted fares through digital payments, the initiative aims to make daily commuting more affordable while improving convenience for passengers.
The move also supports broader efforts to promote cashless transactions in public transport systems.
