GCash is set to roll out in-app one-time passwords (OTPs) beginning June 22, replacing traditional SMS-based verification codes as part of efforts to strengthen account security and combat online fraud. With the updated approach, OTP codes will be sent via secure push notifications inside the authenticated GCash app. GCash has expanded its in-app help tools and security features to address a growing number of user issues on its platform, including unauthorized transactions, scams, account takeovers, and “wrong send” errors. More tools inside the app Users can rely on in-app guides and the GCash Help Center for common problems such as failed transactions and wrong transfers. Users can reach these agents through the official GCash Help Center hotline at 2882. Security features in place GCash highlights several built-in security controls, including Account Secure, which limits account access to one device at a time. Coordination with authorities, anti-fraud actions GCash works with agencies such as the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) and PH Payments Management Inc. GCash is also refining its tools to shorten response times and make it easier for users to report cases and monitor ticket status.
