Reuters says that the electric-vehicle company's stocks have become one the "worst performing" in the industry this year, primarily due to investors worrying that Musk's recent takeover of social network Twitter would divert his attention from Tesla. Manila Electric Company (Meralco) started deploying 69 electric vehicles (EVs) to heighten efforts to create sustainable modes of transportation under the Green Mobility Program. This new batch of EVs comprises cars, vans, pick-up trucks, and motorcycles to cater to the transportation needs of their Business Centers and Sector Offices which adds to the 60 EVs already being used by the Meralco field personnel. This also goes towards Meralco's efforts to electrify their full vehicle fleet, with their Metro Manila service vehicles now all running electric. “Through this Program, we express our full support to the Philippines’ transition to electric transportation. “Beyond delivering accessible and reliable electricity service to households and businesses, we, in Meralco, are also at the forefront of providing sustainable solutions to our customers. Swedish-based, Chinese-owned automobile company Volvo has just announced that all of its models launched after 2019 will be either electric or hybrid. This makes them the first traditional automobile maker to begin phasing out combustion-engine vehicles in favor of fully electrics, mild hybrids, and mild hybrids, and will only continue selling their current gasoline-powered models until 2019.
