Google has begun rolling out new "Theft Protection" features to Android, including Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock. As shared by Mishaal Rahman, the feature uses AI along with a device’s motion sensors to attempt detecting “common motion associated with theft.” So, when someone snatches your phone and runs away either on foot or by vehicle, the phone automatically locks the screen preventing unwanted access. Lastly, the Remote Lock lets you lock your phone using only your mobile number if you ever find yourself unable to sign in to Find My Device using your Google account. For compatibility, Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock are supported on any Android phone running Android 10 or later. Go to Settings > Google > tap on All services tab > scroll to Personal & device safety. Google started the rollout for its Find My Device network for Android users today, starting with the US and Canada. The upgraded system is compatible with Android 9 and later versions, making it easier to track devices even when offline.
