Last week, we got hold of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus which we showed at Mornings @ ANC and SONA with Jessica Soho along with the Galaxy Note. The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is obviously a tablet that wants to be a smartphone while the Galaxy Note is obviously a smartphone that wants to be a tablet. The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is the reloaded version of the original Galaxy Tab that was launched last year. And while the old one came out with a staggering price of Php35,000+, the new Galaxy Tab 7 Plus with its upgraded hardware is selling for just Php23k. So why is the Galaxy Tab 7 Plus much, much cheaper? In some sense, the pricing makes sense if you're looking into the Galaxy Tab line-up -- the Tab 10.1 was selling for Php30k, the Tab 8.9 for about P27k and now this Tab 7.0 Plus costs just Php23k. So I was thinking, if you had a budget of like Php36k which you originally intended for the Galaxy Note, you can get the Galaxy Tab Plus for Php23k and then use the extra Php13k to get a decent phone. The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus did not even disappoint in Quadrant Standard Benchmark -- scoring a nice 3,500 points compared to the 4,150 of the Galaxy Note.
