GCash will soon let users link their Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards directly to their accounts for Scan-to-Pay transactions. Users can link up to three Visa or Mastercard credit or debit cards to their accounts. GCash will authenticate card linking through a one-time password (OTP), while it will secure eligible transactions using biometrics or a phone PIN where available. “As we prepare to roll out this feature, we remain committed to giving Filipinos the freedom to pay their way with ultimate convenience and total peace of mind,” said Ren-ren Reyes, President & CEO of G-Xchange, Inc., the mobile wallet operator of GCash. GCash expects to roll out direct Visa and Mastercard card-linking nationwide within August. GCash has expanded its in-app help tools and security features to address a growing number of user issues on its platform, including unauthorized transactions, scams, account takeovers, and “wrong send” errors. Security features in place GCash highlights several built-in security controls, including Account Secure, which limits account access to one device at a time. Initial issuing banks include GoTyme, MetroBank, Union Bank and China Bank so you can start adding debit and credit cards issued by these banks.
