Instagram has announced a new option that automatically translates the texts found in Stories. The new service detects a foreign language in a Story and displays a “See Translation” option. Users just need to tap it (below the user's name), and a translation will pop up (at the bottom). [embed]https://twitter.com/instagram/status/1417921440087568389[/embed] According to Instagram, the new translation feature will be available globally, and it currently supports over 90 languages to make sharing content with an international audience easier. To recall, Instagram has added automatic translations to comments, captions, and user bios in 2016. At launch, translations only work between English and Spanish, though Meta says more languages will be added in the future. For now, the tool is available to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers, while anyone with a public Instagram account can try it out. The move comes as other platforms also explore AI translations. YouTube previously introduced a similar feature in 2024, while Apple built live translation tools into iOS 26 for Messages, Phone, and FaceTime.
