Apple Inc.’s next iPhone will use a portion of LTE and Wi-Fi  modems from Intel Corporation in some versions of their upcoming handset. Intel reportedly has 1,000 or more employees working on preparing the Intel 7360 LTE modem for the iPhone 7 lineup. The 7360 LTE modem chip from Intel features faster theoretical download speed of up to 450 Mbps, upload speed of up to 100 Mbps, and support for LTE category 10 and 29 LTE bands overall. According to Bloomberg‘s report, Intel is supplying the modems for AT&T-compatible iPhones, as well as some models sold overseas. Intel has also secured a significant portion of the LTE chips, likely in the range of 30 to 40 percent of production. Intel, the marquee PC chipmaker, is immediately cancelling its ultra-low-power Atom line of processors. Citing a company's spokesperson, the publication of PCWorld reports : Intel's mobile chip roadmap now has a giant hole after the cancellation of the chips. Intel's existing smartphone and tablet-only chips are aging and due for upgrades, and no major replacements are in sight.
