This quarter could be the best time to upgrade your age-old laptop as most manufacturers already have their Intel Core i3 laptops in stores. On the other hand, only the Fujitsu laptop uses the built-in Intel GMA HD graphics while the rest uses either an nVidia GeForce 310M or ATI Radeon HD 5470. Got the official statement from Intel Corporation today and it turns out bigger than we originally expected and involves around 5,000 to 6,000 employees worldwide, including 1,800 in the Philippines. However, not all employees will leave Intel; some may be offered positions at other facilities. Intel made official their new Atom processors for Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) -- the Atom Z515 which clocks at 1.2GHz and the Atom Z550 which is rated at 2.0GHz. In a memo circulated among employees of Intel Philippines, the chipmaker has finally conceded and will shut down its facilities in Gen Trias, Cavite by end of 2009.
