A couple of weeks ago, Epson Philippines brought us to a 3-day Media Challenge in Eden Park, Davao City where they showcased their new line of printers, projectors and labelers for 2012. The LabelWorks LW-400 was the one they actually gave away to everyone who attended. There are actually 3 models under the Epson LabelWorks (LW-300, LW-400 and LW-900) so this one is the mid-range labeler. I'm only familiar with those decades-old labeler that's made of plastic and punches a mold into them to create embossed letters. In contrast the LabelWorks prints out the labels using thermal paper. The sticker labels feel like laminated paper and are very thin so they can be easily used on any surface without worry. The labeler hooks up to a power plug but you have the option to use batteries when you want to bring it out and use it in the field. The cartridge (sticker label) comes in plain white but we were told you can get replacement cartridge in National Book Store in various colors.
