The new contactless payment option allows passengers to use designated Fast Lanes and enter stations. The feature joins existing cashless payment options on LRT-2 which include mobile NFC payments and GCash Commute QR. With Mastercard contactless payments now available on LRT-2, we're making everyday travel more seamless and secure, helping commuters save time and move through their journeys with greater confidence," said Jason Crasto, Mastercard’s Country Manager for the Philippines. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is introducing cashless payments for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT). We previously reported that this was already in effect via MRT-3 with payments in GCash/QRPh. DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said that the open-loop payment system aligns with modern transit technologies used worldwide.
