MasterCard has recently unveiled in Singapore its next generation of payment cards that features an embedded LCD display and touch-sensitive buttons. The MasterCard Display Card looks and almost functions like a regular credit, debit, or ATM card but with an LCD display and touch-sensitive buttons. Commuters riding LRT-2 can now pay for their fares using Mastercard credit, debit and prepaid cards. They can also use mobile wallets linked to eligible Mastercard cards. Mastercard credit, debit and prepaid cards can now be used when riding the LRT-2. With Mastercard contactless payments now available on LRT-2, we're making everyday travel more seamless and secure, helping commuters save time and move through their journeys with greater confidence," said Jason Crasto, Mastercard’s Country Manager for the Philippines. Several companies, including GCash, Visa, and Mastercard, have shown interest in the Philippine government’s plan to create a single fare payment system for trains and other transport. Aside from GCash, Visa, and Mastercard, other companies like Siemens Mobility, Hitachi Asia, LG CNS, and Cubic Transportation Systems also joined a market study held in Singapore.
