Microsoft is bringing back the ability to move the taskbar in Windows 11, nearly five years after the feature was removed at launch. Users will soon be able to reposition the taskbar to the top or sides of the screen, addressing one of the most requested features from the Windows community. Microsoft said the move responds to long-standing feedback about missing functionality in Windows 11 compared to previous versions. Microsoft is also scaling back some Copilot integrations, removing less useful entry points while focusing AI features where they are more relevant. The return of the movable taskbar marks a significant reversal from Windows 11’s original design, which removed several customization features that were available in earlier versions like Windows 10. Microsoft is reducing the number of Copilot AI integrations in Windows 11, signaling a shift toward a more focused approach to AI features. According to Windows chief Pavan Davuluri, Microsoft is aiming to integrate AI “where it’s most meaningful,” rather than expanding it across every part of the system.
