Xiaomi has decided to remove background video playback in a HyperOS update (MIUI 15). Background video playback has been a thoughtful feature since MIUI 12. But now, the video toolbox UI will not offer this option for playback with the screen off in HyperOS (MIUI 15). It’s also important to note that Xiaomi is moving towards China-exclusive MIUI software, with other countries provided with HyperOS. However, MIUI 12, MIUI 13, MIUI 14 and HyperOS users may also refrain from updating their software to avoid the feature being disabled. Along with the launch of the global Redmi Note 11 series, Xiaomi shared the MIUI 13 global rollout schedule for the first quarter of this year. The following models will roll out MIUI 13 first wave in Q1 2022, with the release schedule for other devices to be gradually published on the MIUI website. In addition, MIUI 13 also introduces new features that let users customize and personalize their experiences, such as new widgets and sidebar.
