Globe Telecom is set to roll out a new rewards model that allows subscribers to earn digital credits based on how they engage with its mobile ecosystem. These credits can later be redeemed for tangible rewards and services within the OneWave ecosystem, with Globe services and partner offerings among the potential use cases in the future. According to Globe, the Philippine mobile ecosystem contributes between 8.4% and 8.6% of the country’s gross domestic product, exceeding the global average of 7.7%. We've got over a hundred submissions from our recent poll on mobile 3G services. The results are not that surprising but the breakdown of services is a bit interesting though. Quite a number of users have already been using their new uMobile SIMs too (7.19%) while fledgling Sun Cellular 3G is still down there. Surprisingly, very few people are using PLDT WeRoam -- a service which has practically been supplanted by SmartBro Mobile 3G. Sun Cellular may get additional share by end of this year once they market their 3G services.
