Nium, a digital cross-border payment platform, has partnered up with VIA and is set to launch across Southeast Asia. Formerly known as InstaRem, Nium is a fintech-based money transfer service provider. Designed for peer-to-peer and business-to-business transfers, the first phase of Nium's services will roll out to countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Prajit Nanu, co-founder, and CEO of Nium stated: At Nium, we understand that individuals’ and businesses’ need to receive money quickly, especially in markets where there are no instant payment solutions like FAST or IMPS. With this change, UnionBank joins other commercial banks in the Philippines that have also removed fees for real-time digital fund transfers. More banks in the Philippines have been removing InstaPay transfer fees as digital banking services continue to become more competitive. The Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank) will stop charging fees for InstaPay and PESONet transfers starting July 7, 2026.
