As restrictions ease as the country transitions into the General Community Quarantine (GCQ), several Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) will be allowed to operate. To help keep social distancing norms, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has partnered with PayMaya to allow drivers and operators of PUVs to accept cashless payment options. PayMaya will be adding QR scan-to-pay capabilities to its mobile app. Additionally, PayMaya will be giving taxis and transport operators access to a digital financial account for everyday transactions, including bills payments, airtime load reloading, and sending money to friends and family. PayMaya will also be granting contactless payments via credit, debit, and prepaid cards via tap-to-pay technology through other digital payment solutions to transport operators.
