SM Store goes cashless with PayMaya

The SM Store and PLDT Inc.’s PayMaya Philippines has announced a partnership that would allow customers to purchase goods using the PayMaya mobile application’s QR code scanning platform. It was made available to all SM Store branches nationwide last December. With PayMaya QR, customers of the establishment can now just simply open their PayMaya, scan a QR code, and pay for their purchase.

More and more Filipinos are using cashless payments with PayMaya, and we’re excited to work with like-minded companies such as SM in innovating on the retail shopping experience with the help of our payment technologies. With companies like SM taking the lead, we’ll see PayMaya QR in a lot more stores and establishments all around the country. – Manuel V. Pangilinan , PLDT chairman and CEO

In the coming days, expect that cashless payment like PayMaya or Gcash will bring in more retailers all over the country as we transition to a cashless society.

Really hoping for SM to venture into cryptocurrency. Imagine using a digital money in paying whatever products or services they cater.

China is years ahead of anyone. All you need is your smartphone. You can even pay for your parking fee before you reach the exit. The camera recognizes your plate number and up goes the boom gate. Reduces the time that you have to wait in line.
